Victim/Witness Services

Assisting crime victims is a basic and essential part of being a prosecutor. You did not choose to be either a victim of crime or to become involved in the criminal justice system. The process can often be confusing and complicated and may add to the trauma of being victimized. The Prosecutor's Office and the Victim Services staff are here to serve the citizens of Jackson County.
The goal of the Victim Services Unit is to assist victims by reducing the traumatic effects caused by crime, and aid victims in their healing. The Victim Advocates act as a liaison between the victim and the prosecutor's office. The Assistant Prosecutors and Victim Advocates will provide you with reliable answers to your questions and assist you in resolving issues and concerns to your participation in the criminal justice process. The unit will provide an explanation of the criminal justice system, specific case information, referrals to outside agencies and emotional support.
